Crafting Heritage

Sculpting the Iconic

Ahead of the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Mr Yogiraj's work caught the attention of the Ministry of Culture that asked him to sculpt a statue of Netaji to be installed at India Gate. Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished to install a stone statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose at India Gate to honour his contribution to the freedom struggle. Mr Arun Yogiraj worked meticulously round the clock on this project and created India's largest granite monolithic realistic statue. The statue is 30 feet tall and carved from a 280 tonne block of stone that took 2.5 months to complete, resulting in a 60 tonne sculpture.

Moreover, he used one of the hardest granite stones in the world to build the statue, making this achievement even more remarkable. This project marked another significant achievement in his career, making him the youngest sculptor to create a statue of such national importance. In addition, he gifted a two-fiit-tall statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose to the Prime Minister and won his appreciation.
